Drawing in the sun!

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing
http://www.carolinadeluca.com/urban-sketching

These last days we haven't got much sun in Crozet. Only higher up in the mountain one could catch some rays. But today, finally, it has opened up a bit! Apparently it is not going to last, so I had to profit! This is in the Rue de Jura, in Crozet, a street where you can draw something at every step. Just lovely.

Normal life...
                                       ... and yet special days

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Tuesdays are my busiest days. Well, or rather the less flexible ones. I teach so I have more schedules to follow, while usually, besides school and the dog, I am quite free to organise my days as I please. Today it is Tuesday and also my birthday, and well, I am still a bit like a girl on this and I feel like it is a special day, although rationally I know it isn't. And then the day goes on and indeed it is a mixture of both, a normal day and a special day, with normal stuff and life going on but also little things that make it different than any other Tuesday in a special way. And here a moment of normality: my husband hanging clothes a moment ago. My pile to fold is getting larger and larger, and yet here I am drawing him...

In my way to the collège

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing
http://www.carolinadeluca.com/urban-sketching

In the way to my daughter's collège in Ferney, very close to the chateau de Voltaire, there is this old ruined farm. And you know, one can get lost drawing there. So many things, chaos, old houses with old windows and old doors, old roofs and broken walls... Well, paradise!
Today I had to pick up my daughter and I managed to get twenty extra minutes to very quickly sketch a tiny part of this fantastic place. You know, places like these, here, they can vanish from one day to the other...

Maitane's mobile, through the years

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

It is in days like this that I wonder why I imposed myself such an inflexible challenge. But again, it is in days like this that one must stick to it, right? So today, tired, the sole condition was to at least draw from bed, something that could motivate me. Hanging from the ceiling we have a mobile I made more than 12 years ago, to hang above my daughter's crib when she was born. And here it is, a bit worn out, after several house and country movings, after being hit by children jumping on our bed quite a few times. But well, still standing! In its origins it had more moons and more planets that we will hang up again when it will be worth it to so do :)

Little Nouga

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

This weekend my friend Colette is away and we are taking care of Nouga, her little puppy who's now close to 3 months old. Needless to say everyone is happy, the kids, Ludo the dog, and adults as well :)

Day 25: our messy table

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

This is our messy table at home, where all "unfinished" games and constructions land off until I lose my patience (which, for these kind of things is so unlimited ;) ). Luckily, the table is quite small!

Day 23: Some sun in Villeneuve

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing
http://www.carolinadeluca.com/urban-sketching

Today it's been sunny after what it feels a while, so even if my day is quite full on Tuesdays, I had to go out and draw. An old house in Villeneuve.

Day 22: Carsketching ... a flooded river

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing
http://www.carolinadeluca.com/urban-sketching

It rains and rains a lot and there's water everywhere. Today my husband told me he had to turn around with his bike in Pregnin, because the river Lion was flooded. He also told me, you have to go! And you know, it was a wonderful idea :) There were even a couple of cars trapped in to make the drawing more interesting! :D

Day 21: At home

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

These days it rains and rains and sometimes I wonder if I will run out of things to draw. But you know, when you have three productive children, your house is full of cute sketchable things ;)

This one is a little pig my middle one made a couple of years ago.

Day 20:
Finally in the sofa... for just a moment!

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Today, another full day with no time to stop. And then, already after 8pm, I've sit down in the sofa just to think what to draw... and well, I couldn't just help drawing the view from there, to not move for a moment!

Day 19: more... dinosaurs!

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Couldn't convince my son to draw anything else. So we drew dad and baby triceratops. That is, I sketched, he gave me instructions ;)

ps. Notice that, of my 19 drawings so far, already 4 are about or contain dinosaurs in them. Non negligible!

Day 18: dinosaurs

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

When your sick child loves dinosaurs and you let him choose the drawing of the day :)

Day 17: sick child

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

My youngest, sick today, and watching a film to try to forget stomach ache.
I thought it would be easier to draw him today, but even sick, he doesn't stop moving!!

Day 16: In front of the mirror

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

This is me, drawing myself, in front of the mirror.
Today it was earlier so I had time to draw the full body! ;)

Day 15: full day

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Today it was a full day. From one place to the other non-stop. But a fun one. So when I finally stopped to draw I could only do it from bed ;)
Maybe one day when I am less tired I will explain the story of my dinosaur pyjamas!

Day 14: Sunday Games

Kapla towers, playmobil farms... Family Winter Sunday afternoons under the fog :)

Day 13: An original food container

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing
http://www.carolinadeluca.com/urban-sketching

This one is close to where I was drawing two days ago. I pass quite often running or with my dog, and I always find it so funny. An old car recycled into a horses food container.

And today, as bonus, a picture taken in situ:

Day 12: puzzles

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Today has been a very busy day. I've passed it all as in a race against the clock, linking one task after another. But when kids have been back from school, we've had a relaxing moment, drawing and making dinosaur puzzles.

Outdoors

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

A little house which I don't know what it was for in the past, that I wanted to sketch a while ago.

Day 10: hommage to muddy trails

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Because they are so so fun!

(this is my shoe after today's run and it really wasn't that bad!)

Day 9: hard boiled egg with oil and salt

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

I think that's my favorite way of eating eggs... although I like them cooked in any other way as well. This was part of my lunch today. I hope the hens keep laying them, yum!!

Day 8: ... and the first egg!!

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Yesterday after having drawn the chickens I was joking around saying, well, maybe my drawing will inspire them to finally lay an egg today! And you know, it happened!! Right today we found the first egg after the winter pause!
These coincidences in life are just amazing and make me think there are so many things we just don't understand :)
It is just an egg, but it very well deserved my sketch of the day.

Day 7: Los pollos

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Two of our hens, lovingly know as "los pollos". Staying with birds today, but real ones! :)

Day 6: Bird water whistle

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Do you know them? You put water inside, blow it, and it sounds beautiful like a bird :)
This one comes from our Summer trip in Jujuy, Argentina. My sister offered it to one of my kids.

Day 3: Wooden spoons. A family thing.

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

This is my small wooden spoons collection. I think it is nothing compared to that of my dad, or my sister's... Love for wooden spoons runs in the family. I manage to control myself when getting them, so my collection has stayed reasonably small, but at least my dad has the right spoon for every imaginable use :)

New Year, New Project

http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing

Last year I've drawn a lot, but I have somehow neglected sharing many of my drawings, probably because I haven't been as regular as sometimes I'd liked. And as in everything in life, with drawing the secret is, as well, regularity. And it doesn't matter what you draw, the important thing is to just draw. Anything. Sometimes the subject will be very interesting and motivating, others it won't, but the key is to just draw anyway to never stop exercising the link between eyes, mind and hand.

Previous years I have managed to keep a healthy regularity without imposing me any schedule, but now things are more difficult. With classes, real work, my time with my dog and my other hobbies, sometimes I go without drawing for days in a row. And well, besides this link I should keep exercising, drawing does me good. Because balance is also important. So, this year I've made myself a proposition. I will make a drawing every day. It doesn't need to be anything difficult, or imaginative, or the best drawing I've made in my life. It will be a drawing without any ambition. Just for the sake of drawing, and having a more balanced life for myself :)

I don't know if I will also share the drawings with daily frequency, if I will share them all here with a text, but I will be posting all of them in this page http://www.carolinadeluca.com/2018onedayonedrawing
You are more than welcome to have a look!

So, for this Day 1, the "camel-sheep".
This one comes with a funny story, and a question for you. I bought this puppet in Prague, back in 1997. And since then, from many years, I thought it was a sheep. Now I don't remember if the seller told me this, or I just thought that myself. But now in my family there's an ongoing discussion: some think that it is a camel!! What do you think?
