Sketching with my students

Today half of my class was away on a school trip, so I took the other half to do some sketching to a place of their choice. They chose the Café du Cercle, so off we were!
I can't share their sketches because some of them are a surprise for their parents and I have strict prohibition to even take pictures of them, but I share mine, that I did as a demonstration, while they were drawing. Because they also need, from time to time, a reminder to let themselves go free!

Last drawing class before the Long Holidays
http://www.carolinadeluca.com/urban-sketching/
Today, for the last class of the year, I brought my two best girls to draw in situ. I'd been telling them we'd go for a long time, during winter, when spring comes and afternoons are longer, during spring, when it is a bit less cold, when it doesn't rain, when, when... and like this we got to the last day! And yes, it was sunny, we found a quiet spot proposed by one of them, we could sit in the shadow, and we had a wonderful time.
Lastly, and most important of all, girls were very happy with their sketches :) And hopefully also motivated to bring their notebook on holidays with them!
... and I also got to sketch a bit ;)

They are good these girls, aren't they?
Learning to keep proportions
Another exercise we are doing with my 10 yr students, starting to learn composition and to reproduce proportions when drawing. They are now half way to finish the exercise, and the class is tomorrow, so I finished mine today.
One of the good things about me doing their exercises is that I get to use techniques I haven't long used. This one I did it with different graphite pencils and pencil colors. It was a bit since the last time I did a full drawing using only this technique!
And now another challenge: can you name all the utils in the drawing?
Self-portrait
This is me. With my very serious face. I think usually I smile a bit more :)
I did this self-portrait as an exercice for the 10 yr old children who are in my drawing and painting classes. (I always do the exercices myself first to check them out, and make sure they are not too easy, too boring, too difficult).
This one was quite fun to make, and useful to start learning to draw faces, and to learn to identify zones of shadow to give the drawing some volume. So they did it with their own pictures a couple of weeks ago, and the result was pretty great. Kids learn so fast.
